Spoken word event, Jacaranda Club

I have never been to an open mic spoken word event before but have wanted to for a few years. It was great that there were so many people there. I loved the whole thing. One girl writes quite flowery stuff and it just doesn't sound good when it's spoken unless you have the right tempo and accent. I love the kitchen sink, accent stuff much better. I had a problem saying the things I write, it sounds so silly when spoken out loud. I spoke to Claire and she said to look at a thesaurus and use more colloquial language for words I have used, even though they aren't particularly complicated in the first place.
Afterwards, I was desperate to write something to perform. I like artwork that steps out of it's supportive circle and joins the real world. Maybe this could be the thing.
It could be interesting to get to know more people from differing backgrounds in Liverpool.
